About us
Black Country Pathology Services (BCPS) is a collaborative network of four NHS Trusts in the Black Country region of England:
- The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust www.dgft.nhs.uk
- The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust www.royalwolverhampton.nhs.uk
- Sandwell and West Midlands Hospital NHS Trust www.swbh.nhs.uk
- Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust www.walsallhealthcare.nhs.uk

The BCPS is hosted by The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust on behalf of the owner trusts.
BCPS provides a world class service with potential to innovate. It serves 1.76 million patients and conducts 60 million tests. This partnership has led to over 27,000 more community phlebotomy appointments, improved TAT, access and workflows. All in all, allowing a better-quality service for the benefit of both employees and patients.
Black Country Pathology Services (BCPS) is committed to providing a laboratory based diagnostic / interpretative service of the highest quality for Chemistry, Specialist Chemistry, Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Immunology, Microbiology, Histology, Cytology and Point of Care testing, and shall be aware of and take into consideration the needs and requirements of its service users.

In order to ensure that the needs and requirements of users are met, the BCPS will:
- Operate a quality management system to integrate the organisation, procedures, processes and resources.
- Consult with users on a regular basis to ensure their needs and requirements are met
- Set quality objectives and plans in order to implement this quality policy, these are stated in the departmental management reviews and are developed for continual quality improvement of services
- Ensure that all personnel are familiar with this quality policy to ensure user satisfaction
- Ensure that personnel are familiar with the contents of the quality manual and all procedures relevant to their work
- Uphold professional values and be committed to good professional practice and conduct
- Commit to the health, safety and welfare of its entire staff and visitors. Visitors to the department will be treated with respect and due consideration will be given to their safety while on site
- Comply with all relevant environmental legislation
- Ensure Patients right to be free from discrimination
