TPMT  Service Schedule

As we approach the festive period, we would like to inform you of our TPMT service schedule and the sample handling requirements in place during this time.

TPMT Sample Submission Deadlines

To ensure timely processing, all TPMT phenotype and thiopurine metabolite samples must reach our laboratory no later than Friday 19 December 2025. Samples received after this date, or between Saturday 20 December 2025 and Wednesday 1 January 2026, cannot be guaranteed for analysis due to our reduced service schedule over the festive break.

Sample Stability

Please ensure samples are submitted within the following stability periods:

TPMT phenotype samples: 14 days

Thiopurine metabolite samples: 10 days

Samples received outside these stability windows, or during the closure period, may not be analysed. In such cases, a report will be issued indicating that the sample’s integrity was compromised and analysis could not be performed.

Where possible, we will reflex to TPMT genotyping for samples that are too old for reliable phenotyping, helping to minimise delays to clinical decision‑making and avoid unnecessary patient rebleeds.

Contact

We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to these timelines. If you have any questions regarding this schedule, please contact our laboratory team before Friday 19 December 2025.
