Intro:

Ethyl glucuronide (EtG) and Ethyl sulfate (EtS) are metabolites of ethanol, and are therefore useful as biomarkers of recent alcohol intake if ethanol itself is no longer detectable. EtG/EtS measurement can can detect alcohol use for up to 80 hours post consumption and is therefore useful for assessing abstinence in patients.
