For diagnosis and monitoring of patients with classical homocystinuria only.
If requested for premature thrombosis including hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy see Total Homocysteine (Total) No proven value in management of cardiovascular disease. LAB INSTRUCTIONS: Separate within 30 min then see Prof Gama, Jas or Sue for deproteinising solution. Deproteinise plasma with an equal volume of deproteinising fluid (supplied by BCH), tip off into Z5 and deep freeze. DO NOT SEND SAMPLE OVER A WEEKEND. Does not need to be transported frozen.
