Intro:
Methanol is a highly toxic alcohol following ingestion and is found in antifreeze, windscreen washer fluid, methylated fluids, paint thinners etc. Methanol can also be found in counterfeit beverages.Methanol is analysed during suspected methanol poisoning cases to confirm or exclude ingestion. Serial measurement in confirmed cases is used to guide treatment.
