Indication:
ADEM or MS and more recently in patients with neuromyelitis Optica negative for AQP4 antibodies.
Further information:
MOG antibodies cause demyelination of the nerves leading to neurological symptoms that does not meet the typical criteria for Multiple Sclerosis. MOG antibody disease is similar in presentation to optic neuritis or transverse myelitis.
Patients presenting with symptoms of neuromyelitis optica but are seronegative for NMO antibodies may have MOG antibodies present. MOG antibodies can also be associated with Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM) which is more common in children.
