Collection Conditions / Other Information:Lumbar puncture should be performed >12h post-event in CT Brain Scan Negative patients.
- Ideally send the least blood stained sample.
- CSF must be protected from light as bilirubin is photolabile.
- CSF must be hand delivered to the laboratory (Do NOT use the air tube).
- Serum sample for LFTs (bilirubin and total protein) should also be provided.

Further information:**Caution some antibiotics (doxycycline, tetracycline and metronidazole) may interfere with the spectral analysis of CSF xanthochromia, and potential result in a false negative outcome. Please clearly indicate on the request if the patients are on these medications and interpret results with caution**.
